Abel Hawnt is a singer/songwriter from the south coast of England. Armed with a head full of life experiences, songwriting has served to provide an outlet for Abel to make sense of his emotions and life’s trials and tribulations.
With a collection of songs written over the past three years, it was only following a spontaneous return to Texas in 2017, a chance encounter with a seasoned songwriter at the iconic Gruene Hall, and a discussion with a former songwriting partner of the late Townes Van Zandt that Abel decided to record some songs. 2020 has been a progressive year in regards to the recording and release of songs.
Inspired by Texan songwriters such as Jerry Jeff Walker and Robert Earl Keen, along with the more modern songwriting of Gregory Alan Isakov, Nathaniel Rateliff and Ruarri Joseph, his music provides a folk centred, country stained, and storytelling base; built around the traditional sound of the finger-picked guitar and percussive instrumentation.
