Ileana-Maria Popescu (better known by her stage name Eneli) is a Romanian singer-songwriter, born in Tg-Jiu, Romania.

The love for music began developing at an early age, when she was only four years old and by that time she was singing in a church choir. Later on, with the support of her family, she started taking music seriously, traveled to Bucharest for music lessons, participated in various festivals and contests, while being the lead singer of two bands she formed in her hometown.

By the time she moved to Bucharest, she was already writing songs and in 2015, she was introduced to a music producer with who she collaborated on his project as a featured artist. That was the year she realized songwriting was a new way of expressing herself freely and it was also the time she came up with her stage name, ENELI. In 2016, one of the songs she wrote called ‘MHM MHM’ became a massive success in Europe and peaked at #25 in Billboard’s Dance Chart in the US.

The following two years marked important achievements for her career, including successful collaborations with Dj’s and producers, that gathered millions of views on Youtube. Three of the songs she wrote and featured on (‘Save Me’ , ‘Tell me who’ and ‘Back to me’) were licensed to Ultra Music, one of the biggest dance record labels in the music industry. During this time, she has also released three songs for her own project: ‘Chasing You’, ‘Cold’ and ‘Follow Me’.

Doing all this as an independent artist has influenced her artistic approach and her vision for herself as an artist. In 2018 she moved to London to study a Master degree in Songwriting and during that year she continued working on her own project, as well as taking on production.

‘When it comes to music and art in general, I believe in strong vision, passion, truth, hard work and authenticity. I believe there is a greater responsibility to creating. I believe in purpose.’
