Lucas Thijs
Lucas Thijs is releasing singles "Future Lies Awake" (June 2nd) and "Red Lines" (July 15th), the first tastes from his upcoming EP, "videostore effect", that will be released digitally and on cassette on July 29th.
This Rotterdam based indie songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist debuted in 2018 with his self-produced EP "Backspace". After spending his early twenties working as a session musician in multiple projects, Thijs began shifting his focus away from projects that wouldn’t fulfill creatively. While being a guitar player in Rotterdam based post punk band Paterson, he simultaneously keeps working on his solo music.
In 2020, Thijs released his single “Never Had It Anyway”: a collaboration with Igor Wouters (Amsterdam Recording Company) that resulted in a sound that leaned more towards alternative-rock. In December 2022 he released "Escapology" - an EP that holds a more intimate sound than his earlier releases.

The video for Red Lines visualizes an experience of mine that I had with a little help from magic mushrooms. I wrote the song in a time when my stepfather was really sick. I was holding certain feelings underwater, and they had to come out. I laid down on my bed and closed my eyes - and I started to see Red Lines that showed me accurately where I had unresolved pain. It was an intense, yet beautiful experience. Kat Kalkman (Rotterdam artist) made a video to emphasize what I've experienced.
